The Londonderry High School Band brings students together through concert and marching performances, school traditions, community events, and opportunities to perform on memorable stages around the world. The Lancers are recognized for their traditional red, white, and blue Cadet-style uniforms and energetic parade performances.

Band is for Everyone

The philosophy of the Lancer Band is simple: Band is for Everyone.

Students do not need to be all-star musicians or experienced marchers to participate. The program is designed so students can learn, improve, perform, and contribute as part of the ensemble.

Everyone participates. No one sits on the bench.

For incoming students, Band also provides an immediate community at LHS. Students rehearse, perform, travel, and spend time together throughout the year, building friendships across grade levels along the way.

The sights and sounds of Elvis Presley come to the field this fall as the Lancers bring his unmistakable music, style, and energy to halftime.

A Year in Band

The Lancer Band is active throughout the year. The program begins with summer rehearsals and Band Camp, builds into the fall football and field-show season, and then shifts primarily to concert music. Parades, community appearances, and special performances continue in every season.

Summer Rehearsals and Performances

July – August

Students meet weekly to begin learning the fall field-show music and prepare for the upcoming season. Vacations and other summer commitments are expected, so students attend the rehearsals that they can catch up along the way. The band may also participate in summer parades and community events.

Band Camp and Show Preparation

August

The full Band and Color Guard come together for four focused days of music, marching fundamentals, sectional rehearsals, and field-show preparation. Band Camp is free and required for participating students, with meals provided during the day.

Fall Field and Football Season

September – October

Students rehearse weekly during the main fall field-show season and perform at varsity football games. The band appears at home games, selected away games, band shows, parades, and community events. Football performances may continue into November depending on the team’s playoff schedule.

Concert and Community Performance Season

Mid-October – June

Beginning around mid-October, concert band becomes the primary classroom focus. Students prepare for concerts in December, March, and May while continuing with any remaining football games, holiday and spring parades, community events, and special performances.

You Don't Have to Choose

Being in Band does not mean giving up sports, clubs, or other activities at LHS.

Many Lancer Band members are also athletes, class officers, student leaders, and participants in other extracurricular programs. The Band works to accommodate those commitments. When a schedule conflict occurs, students communicate with the Band Director and attend their sport or activity.

Students can experience the friendships, performances, and traditions of the Lancer Band while remaining involved in the other parts of high school that matter to them.

For decades, the Lancer Marching Band has represented Londonderry and New Hampshire at major performances across the United States and around the world.

More Than Performances

Community service and participation in Londonderry traditions are important parts of the Lancer Band experience.

Over the years, students have performed at the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Memorial, supported the community’s Veterans Day breakfast and parade, organized food drives, and provided music for local celebrations and tributes. The band has also supported families affected by cancer through Dana-Farber performances and has raised funds for communities affected by natural disasters in Japan and China.

These experiences give students opportunities to use their music in service to others while strengthening their connection to the Londonderry community.

Lancer Uniforms

Londonderry High School provides the primary Band and Color Guard uniforms. Families receive information before the marching season about fittings, issued items, and any additional required purchases, such as footwear.
